Training

  1. a.      Training programme for Field Staff of NGOs in LWE/backward districts.

–       NABARD in the year 2012-13 entrusted SMCS, training of NGOs for 14 Left Wing Extremist (LWE) affected districts out of 19 districts of Odisha identified by Government of India. SMCS conducted 16 programs  as required by NABARD.

–       NABARD has selected SMCS as TOT (Training of Trainers) for Master Farmers for their Pilot Project in Balasore district for improvement in crop production.

 

  1. b.    Financial Intermediation: Micro Credit (Lending & On-lending)

–          Social Intermediation: Extending capacity building support for strengthening SHG/ Federations, Conducting Trainings on Leadership, bookkeeping, Financial Management, Cadre development, MIS etc.

–          Undertaking publications on micro credit; periodicals, posters, manuals, success stories, user-friendly record keeping systems & training modules etc.

–          Enterprise Development Services: Conduct Trainings on EDPs, Micro Enterprise promotions and establishing cross-linkages with various skill building institutions & marketing outlets.

–          Non Financial Services (Capacity Building Support): -

SMCS provides various Capacity Building support to SHGs and intermediary groups in the form of providing training/ orientations,  organizing exposure visits to best practices, arranging Conventions and marketing facilities of their products, arranging training program for Income Generation Activities, Publication and dissemination of information, establishing cross linkage with mainstream organizations for training, marketing and providing insurance services.

 

International Training Programme

Like previous years SMCS organized International Training programme on poverty reduction through rural credit from 26th December to 31st December 2012 for 18 foreign participants including 8 women from 14 countries. The training programme was sponsored by NIRD, Hyderabad.

 

Training Programs on behalf of NABARD

  1. SMCS is conducting training program of women SHG leaders, members on simple book keeping, accounting, cash management, capacity building continuously
  2. NABARD entrusted in the year 2012-13 SMCS for training of NGOs in 13 out of 15 Left Wing Extremist (LWE) affected districts of Odisha identified by Government of India. All the programs have been completed (copy of NABARD Letter NB>ORI/6181/MCID-3/LWE (Trg)/2012-13 dt 12.11.2012 enclosed)
  3. NABARD selected SMCS as TOT for Master Farmers of Balasore district for improvement in crop production. The training will start shortly

 

Training Programs on behalf of SIDBI

SIDBI is continuously providing capacity building support to SMCS. Recently it has sanctioned Rs24.25 lakhs for the said purpose.

  1. Corporate Social Responsibilities                                            
  • Women SHG convention, Exhibition of SHG Products and Training:

SMCS organizes in a grand scale, annual convention of women SHG members for three days in Bhubaneswar. The objective of the convention cum training was to provide women self help group members  a platform to share their unique experiences as individual members and part of a wider collective , creating an enabling and empowering condition for economic and social betterment of women. The training on some group activity products will help them engaged in economic activities and supplement their family income. The SHGs will exhibit their own products and share their experience on production, marketing etc. A few successful grass root women entrepreneurs will interact with the members.

The Convention for 2012-13 was arranged from 17th to 19th December 2012 at TTD Kalyanamandap, Bhubaneswar. About 1400 women members drawn from various corners of the state participated in the convention. Important dignitaries who participated include: CGM, SBI, CGM, NABARD, DGM and AGM (PSIG), SIDBI, Bhubaneswar, DGM, IDBI Bank, AGM, Indian Bank, Divisional Manager and Branch Manager of LIC of India, Member, State Commissioner for Women, General Manager, OMFED, Regional Manager, EDI, Consumer Advisor & Consumer Mediator of Consumer Advice Centre, Bhubaneswar, Project Managers of Odisha Livelihood Mission, Dr Basanta Kumar Panda, Retd Principal Scientist, CARI, Project Director, Samanwita, G.Udaygiri, Vice President, Access Development,  Odisha Co-ordinator, Sa-Dhan and all the Directors of SMCS.
